Nawroz University President Receives Duhok Governor

The President of Nawroz University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mevan Arif Abdulrahman, received the Governor of Duhok, Prof. Dr. Ali Tatar, on Sunday, 9 August 2026, at 12:00 p.m., in the presence of a number of academics.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current state of higher education in the Kurdistan Region and explored ways to further enhance academic quality. They also exchanged views on the role of higher education institutions in promoting societal awareness and strengthening Kurdish national awareness, with the aim of preparing a well-informed generation capable of contributing to the development of its community and homeland.

The Governor of Duhok commended Nawroz University's distinguished academic standing and its active role in advancing knowledge and raising public awareness. He emphasized the pivotal role of university academics in shaping the awareness of younger generations, strengthening Kurdish national identity, and fostering a strong sense of responsibility toward society.

For his part, the President of Nawroz University highlighted a number of initiatives and activities organized by the University's students and faculty members, which have focused on promoting social awareness, strengthening Kurdish national consciousness, reinforcing Kurdish identity, and encouraging students to play an active role in serving their community.

At the conclusion of the visit, the President of Nawroz University expressed his pleasure at welcoming the Governor of Duhok and the accompanying delegation, reaffirming the University's commitment to expanding cooperation with public institutions and intensifying joint efforts to implement academic and national initiatives that serve society, enhance the standing of the Kurdistan Region, and support the advancement of higher education.
