Introduction

Pedagogical Training and Academic Development Center at Nawroz University, established in

2019 under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Researches, provides professional

training for academic staff and postgraduates.


Mission

Our mission is to enhance teaching quality by equipping university educators with contemporary

pedagogical knowledge, 21st-century skills, and innovative instructional practices that support

effective learning, academic excellence, and continuous professional growth across all disci-

plines.

The Center leads the university’s professional development efforts by designing and delivering

pedagogical training programs aligned with regional academic standards. It provides a six-

month structured pedagogical course for postgraduate certificate holders seeking scientific titles

in the Kurdistan Region, focusing on modern educational approaches, innovation, and practical

classroom applications. The Center also offers short courses and workshops for academic staff to

strengthen teaching competencies, integrate ICT into instruction, and promote student-centered

learning environments.


Key Responsibilities

• Designing and delivering six-month pedagogical training courses in line with ministe-

rial standards.

• Delivering short courses and workshops for academic staff.

• Cooperating with other university units, such as the Quality Assurance Unit, to im-

prove teaching quality by providing required courses.

• Keeping faculty informed about the latest trends in educational theories worldwide.

• Supporting departments in developing curricula aligned with 21st-century standards

when needed.


Achievements or Key Activities

Since 2019, the Center has held several pedagogical training rounds, preparing academic staff

and postgraduate certificate holders for scientific titles. It expanded training modules, improved

digital teaching capacity, and strengthened professional development at Nawroz University. It

also joined workshops and conferences organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Sci-

entific Research on developing curricula for pedagogical training in Kurdistan.


Future Goals

The Center aims to modernize its programs by integrating advanced educational technologies,

expanding interdisciplinary training, and strengthening research-based pedagogy. It also plans

to increase collaboration with national and international institutions to enhance teaching quality

and support sustainable academic development at Nawroz University.
